DOGS

My thanks to the committee for making my day so enjoyable – sorry I couldn’t help more!! Also thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me and hopefully I didn’t upset too many!! Special thanks to my stewards who made my job so much easier by running a seamless ring for me.

I was very pleased with the dogs that came under me, still a few untidy feet but on the whole I felt the overall standard had improved. Too much emphasis on titbits which makes the handler and judge’s life more difficult, try to train without them!!

My co judge Ann Corns and I agreed on all our joint decisions.

Minor Puppy Dog. 1

1st Blow’s SCOUTOR ROGUE ONE – Well-presented black with white marking, smart well put together 7 month baby, good head shape, dark eye, moved well, should have a good future

Puppy Dog 4 (1)

1st Hands & Wyatt SKYESTAFF WINTER SOLDIER – See above

2nd Hammond’s HAMMYSTAFF RED REVENGE – lovely red, excellent dark mask, dark eye, nice head shape, think he is getting his own ‘revenge’ on his handler, as he is a real handful, when he did manage to walk properly his movement was good.

3rd Knight’s KALOSTAFFS DARK NIGHT – black brindle, not as mature as first 2, front feet need to tighten, nice head shape, dark eye, moved well but could do with some more training, handler will have some fun with him.

Junior Dog 11 (3)

1st Boggins & Burton's LUTHAIS LOCH TAY – just my sort, definitely the best in this class, glad he was there! Good head shape, well placed eyes, neat ears, good mouth, excellent pigmentation, moved and handled well, just mature enough for his age and in good condition and well presented, one of the best today, was in my mind for reserve cc but lost out on maturity

2nd James LUTHAIS LOCH NESS – litter brother to first, different but nevertheless nice dog, nice head shape, good eyes, mouth good, ears held back so lost a bit on expression, not so keen for me to go over back end (he was not alone in this class for this), moved well.

3rd Cherry’s FINNSTAFF PISTOL PETE – red with good dark mask, dark eye, good mouth, moved well, well deserved place.

Res Smith's TILLCARR FORGED IN FIRE.

VHC Birmingham's NEROTORO REGAZZO DORO.

Yearling Dog 5 (1)

  1. Harper & Whittaker's BETHALEESE’S POLDARK – well presented black brindle, good pigmentation all round, good mouth, enough muscle, movement ok
  2. Fairhurst’s FAIRLENIUM’S AMERICAN PIE – smart pied, needs to body up but was youngest in class, good shaped head, ears good, good expression, moved ok
  3. Nolan’s CHISWELSTAFF I AM LEGEND – he lacked confidence in the ring, handler needs to practice more to get the best out of him, head shape good, mouth good, as was pigmentation, keep an eye on his ears, moved ok.
Res  Birmingham's NEROTORO REGAZZO DORO.

Novice Dog 4 (2)

  1. Nolan’s CHISWELSTAFF I AM LEGEND – see previous class
  2. Birmingham’s NEROTORO RAGAZZO DORO – well constructed black brindle, nice head shape, only 14 months old and his second show, handler needs to do training with him, and he will have some fun with him, moved well.

Graduate Dog 5

  1. Wise’s MONTGOMERY GUARD – black brindle, longer in the body, good head shape, ears need to be watched, moved ok.
  2. Davis & Booth’s HAMASON SUSPENDED BY STARS AT SHARMARA – beautiful brindle, still immature, needs to body up but he is still only young, good shaped head, excellent pigmentation, good eye shape, should mature into a nice specimen, moved well
  3. Nolan’s CHISWELSTAFF I AM LEGEND
Res Norris's LABRASTAFF MAGMA AT HAIDASTAFF
VHC Walker's GEORGIE POERGIE POPS AT TESHLEYSTAF

Post Graduate Dog 11 (1)

  1. Parker’s JACKABYTE BOLETORO AT NETTLEWORTH – super compact black brindle, well proportioned, excellent pigmentation all round, correct head shape, neat feet, handled and moved well.
  2. Williamson’s ALPORT HIGHLANDER – very similar to first, therefore similar comments, could change places another time but I liked them both
3. Funnell’s POWERPACK TAM O’SHANTER – good all-round dog, slightly larger than 1 & 2 but still well within the standard, moved well
Res Stillman's SIKAISTAFF SHADOW WARRIOR AT MAIDENDALE
VHC Devlin's TIGHTLINES DUSTYS TRAIL

Limit Dog 10 (1)

  1. MCConnellogue’s LONEMOOR POLARA  See Above
  2. Mallon – HARKLINE KING LOUIE – again, another top-quality dog, unlucky to meet 1st today, similar comments to one, he was very on his toes and enjoying his day, good shaped head, moved well. RCC
  3. Gibson’s HOLMANE MOLDAVITE AT STAFFORDSMAX – another good specimen, slightly leaner than 1 & 2 but nevertheless everything good, moved well.
Res Johnson's ELLCHANSHA HOTSHOT
VHC Makin & Porter's WAYSTAFF MOON SHINE

Open Dog 16

  1. Arntzen & Manito’s CATSTAFF USED TO – first time I have seen this dog, excellent head shape, good eye, good ear placement, mouth correct, pigmentation excellent, moved well just thought he lacked a bit of animation.
  2. Johnson’s CH TILLCARR FIRE COANDA – super specimen, pushed hard for first place, well presented moved well.
  3. Wilson’s CH NORTHSTAFF NOTORIOUS – another nice dog, similar comments to 1, moved well. These 3 could (and I am sure do) easily swop places.
Res Norton's CH TARAIEL STORMZY OF TIKKURILAN
VHC Pocknell's ASHSTOCK HIGHLAND WARRIOR AT BLUNOOSA
Veteran Dog 7 (1)
  1. Davis’s BRAUNSTAFF FROM HASBURY – See Top Of page
  2. Whitley’s GINSTEAN BLACK BOMBER – older than first with less grey!!, close run thing with 1, again good pigmentation, neat ears, round eye, enjoyed his day out, as did all the veterans.
  3. Thomas’s BIGGLESWICK FUNCY DEVIL – pied, another lovey specimen, good expression, he moved well.
Res Gardner's LABRASTAF CURIOUS GEORGE
VHC Mitchell's OUR LITTLE CRACKER
