Southern Counties Staffordshire Bull Terrier Society

The Society would like to thank our sponsors

Fish 4 Dogs

for their continued support of the Society Shows.

MEMBERS LIMIT SHOW

HELD ON SUNDAY 24th MARCH 2019

AT NAVESTOCK VILLAGE HALL, NAVESTOCK SIDE, ESSEX CM14 5SD

Another very enjoyable show with a great atmosphere which was well supported. Whilst the entry was not large the quality was sufficient to make both our judges Garry Canavan & Sally Roberts think about their placings. Both judges enjoyed their day with the Society and we would like to thank them both for their efforts. No show can be successful without the exhibitors entering and spectators coming along to watch and our thanks go to those that attended. With the help of the Gill Thomas our Health & Education Officer the Society was also able to hold an eye testing session in conjunction with the show and it drew a fabulous total of 31 dogs being tested. So all in all another good day for the Society. We hope to see lots of you at the Open Show in June. Lastly, thank you to the band of helpers who came along to help set up and run the show.

SPECIAL AWARDS CLASSES:

Judge Mrs Sally Roberts (JAMBOROB)

I would like to thank SCSBTS for inviting me to judge the special award classes and all the entries placed under myself. A special thanks goes to my lovely steward, Kevin Papworth for all his help today with keeping everything running smoothly. There were no major faults seen today which is encouraging for the breed. As some of the dogs had eye testing done today I haven’t mentioned eyes in the critique due to the medication applied prior to examination.

Class A Puppy Dog or Bitch: 3

  1. Hammond’s “JOEMIKESTE EYE OF THE STORM”. 9 months old. Very nice head with a good stop and tight lip giving a lovely expression. Stands four square with a good topline in the stand and on the move. Good spring of rib and tight feet. His movement was smooth with drive.
  2. Alden-Smith’s “MOORSTAR NOW YOU KNOW”. 11 months old. This little lady didn’t take her eyes off of me the whole time, demanding my attention. Although the eldest in the class, she looked very much the baby in the class. She has a lovely feminine head and expression. Stacked and on the move she held her topline and moved with purpose and drive. She was shown in a fit condition.
  3. Lanckman’s “AARUKABULLS CRACKER LAD”. 10 months old. He didn’t seem as settled as the other two which was a pity as he moved better in his previous class. It was very close between all 3 puppies today and it was movement that made my final decision. I would like to see him move when more spritely like in his previous class and I’m sure the line up would be different. He has a cracking head with a good stop. Moved with some drive and held his topline both on the move and when stacked. Shown in a very fit condition.

Class B Open Dog: 8 (1)

  1. William’s “ILLORI BACK CHAT”. I’ve been waiting to put my hands on this lad and I was not disappointed. He ticks just about all the boxes for me. Fantastic head with a good stop and a nice tight lip and a lovely expression. A good spring of rib with a good topline that held when stacked as well as on the move. He moved with purpose and drive and was one of the fittest dogs today and a credit to his owner.
  2. Shipp & Hammond’s “ HAMMYSTAFF HANKY PANKY WITH IDYLLICSTAFF”. Another dog I’ve been itching to go over and again he didn’t disappoint as he too ticked most of the boxes for me. It was a very difficult decision between him and 1st place dog and could easily have changed another day. He has a lovely expression with a good head, stop and tight lip. He was shown in a fit condition with good topline both when stacked and on the move. He moved with drive and purpose and again he was very fit.
  3. Johnson’s “ELLCHANSHA HOTSHOT”. Again a lovely head and expression with a good stop and tight lips. The topline was held on both the move and when stacked. He moved with drive.

Res. Buchan’s “HAPPYSTAFF BLACK SABBATH”.

VHC. Rose’s “ENGLADIAN GRAN TORINO”.

Class C Open Bitch: 14 (2)

  1. Raynsford & Steven’s "RAYNSTAFF DIDJA EVER". This lady was a surprise, she was carrying a little weight which hid what I could feel underneath. Beautiful feminine features with a good stop and nice tight lip. It was her movement that was the surprise and gave her the 1st place position, a smooth movement but with drive. She held her topline beautifully on the move and when stacked. It was a very close call between her and my 2nd placed bitch.
  2. Rowe & South’s "ILLORI BOOTIE LUV". I was looking forward to putting my hands on this lady and wasn’t disappointed as she was shown in a very fit condition. A credit to her owner. She has a nice head, stop and tight lip like her brother in the previous class. A good spring of rib. She moved with drive and purpose and her movement was very similar to my 1st place. A very difficult decision between the 2 bitches.
  3. Gardiner’s "BALLINDONA FAB’U’LUSS FOR LABRASTAF". This little lady had the nicest of expressions, nice head with a good stop and tight lip. She moved with drive and purpose holding her topline.

 Res. Meara’s “MILLAMEAR OUT OUT”.

VHC. Jones “ROUGESTAFF FLAMING ICE”.
