RESULTS

DOGS: Judge Mr Nigel Merrick

Thank you for affording me your precious time to assess your stock and give my opinion based upon the Kennel Club guidelines and my interpretation of it.. Overall quality was super, in my opinion however, we are losing the width and depth of the Stafford, the bone is becoming light, this is an issue we as custodians of the breed must address when breeding and assessing this amazing dog. A very dear friend of mine told me years ago… “you can’t breed rats from mice”. Once we lose the breed type we lose the Stafford.

VETERAN: (3)

1st. RYAN. "CH. RUBERICLA BLACK STARSCREAM". A Black Brindle Dog I have admired for a long time. Correct head, neat ears, correct dentition. He is straight in the front, has well laid back shoulder plenty of rib plenty of bone. His rear make up is sound he oozes breed type. He moved well .A credit to his owner. Thank you for bringing him for me to assess. BVD

2nd. STONE & BRUTON."CH/NOR/SWE CH ZAKSTAFF RUMOUR HAS IT JW". Another class act this one, if only he realised today he was in veteran not puppy….He has an awesome keen expression he is straight in the front although I would like a little more forechest. He is a well made short coupled dog with plenty to like. He is breed type and no doubt all stafford

3rd. LAHODOVA. "ZONNY Z HAMBALEX BUSIN". A red and white boy that is to standard size. A balanced dog that has a correct skull, dark eye and correct mouth. He moved well but today in a class of good company.

MINOR PUPPY: (3, 1ABS)

1st. LEWIS. "HAMASON TO BE FRANK AT KARJAYDAN". Red dog with a black mask. Head is coming on nicely with plenty of skull, Deep through with correct dark eye. Well for bone and straight in the front, a well balanced dog that moved as a puppy should

2nd. ROGERS. "BERRYSTOCK HAWKER FURY". Another lovely example of a minor puppy, keen with a  dark eye neat ear and correct dentition. Well balanced and moved ok. I preferred the head shape of the first but this may well change as they mature.

PUPPY: (4)

1st. ROOS. "BLACK & BRINDLE LORD'S APPLE JACK". Cracking expression this young boy, keen and clean. Neatest of ear, correct head, dark round eye with correct dentition. Well balanced and moved well.

2nd. WILLIAMS. "JODELS IMPACT". Red fawn dog a bit bigger overall than my 1st place, not a bad thing just not as balanced yet! Correct dentition and straight front, ear carriage was tidier on my first place. This young boy went well once he settled down.

3rd. ANDREVON. "DI MANTSTAFF OOPER". Another black brindle with a keen expression. Correct head and dark eye, mouth correct, However for me he fell short of merit for bone and substance. Moved ok.

Res. FUNNELL. "POWERPACK TAM O SHANTER".

JUNIOR: (7)

1st. STROEM. “DELTA DEKA DA VINCI’S ART CODE”. I loved this one, A pocket rocket… Red and white ,Gorgeous head shape keen expression , dark eye neat ear, correct dentition, straight deep wide a true blend of bull and terrier. Definitely in contention when I awarded my CC.

2nd. BERGSTRM & CHRISTIANSEN. “DK STAFFS ROCKY RACOON”. Another fine example of a Stafford, correct balance all over not quite the depth of my first but a very similar made dog.

3rd. MAKIN & PORTER. “WAYSTAFF MOON SHINE”. A red white pied dog whom is maturing nicely correct shape for age with a dark eye, and correct dentition, I preferred the ear carriage on my first two.

Res. ANTONIO. “GAZSTAFF’S MAN IN BLACK FOR ANTONIOSTAFF”

VHC. HAMMOND. “JOEMIKESTE EYE OF THE STORM OVER HAMMYSTAFF”.

YEARLING: (5, 2 Abs)

1st. GOUGH. “MANARK MADE TO MEASURE”. A boster of a head piece this one has. Dark eye ,neat ear, correct dentition, front deep and straight, width and depth that so many lack. Pastern turn out as they should. Correct tail set but this boy gave his handler hell on the final call.

2nd. JOHNSON. ELLCHANSHA HOTSHOT”. A Black brindle dog of excellent quality, Beautiful head shape, darkest eyes with correct ear set. Correct dentition and clean in the flew. Straight and true in front and well made rear. Moved ok

3rd. PARONNEAU. “WAYWARDSTAFF ORIGINAL DARK SPELL”. A tad on the small side for me but a stunning expression, neat ear and dark eye, correct dentition and quite well balanced. Just not enough for me.

UNDERGRADUATE: (3, 1Abs)

1st. HAMMOND. “JOEMIKESTE EYE OF THE STORM OVER HAMMYSTAFF”. A pied dog of good balance, still an immature dog. Head shape is pleasing with dark eye and correct dentition and a strong underjaw. Correct width in the front and once matured should get more forechest. Well made in the rear with plenty of bone. Moved OK but maybe a few lessons needed for his handler…..

2nd. MARSLAND. “THUNDER OF OLYMPUS”. Red dog with a black mask. Head shape was ok but ears were heavy, dark eye and correct scissor bite.  Too narrow for me in his front, which affected his movement when viewed from such.

POST GRADUATE: (9, 2Abs)

1st. DAWE. “MARSTAFF SUNDANCE KID”. A heavier set red dog with an awesome expression, Strong in the skull with neat ear and dark eye, correct dentition, my one deciding factor when looking for my CC winner was this awesome dog is a little fleshier in the flews, but none the less  straight in the front deep and wide, balanced, fit as a fiddle and moved well.

2nd. POCKNELL. “ASHSTOCK HIGHLAND WARRIOR AT BLUNOOSA”. A fawn dog that was clean in the head with a dark eye and correct scissor bite. Neat rose ear, straight in the front with excellent bone. He is a balanced well made typy dog. He just lacked that bit of oomph in spirit. He moved well.

3rd. FUNNELL & WIGGINS. “POWERPACK KILGOBNET”. Topsize black brindle lacking in width and forechest for me compared to my first two places. He has a keen expression and dark eye, his dentition is correct so too his ear set. His movement was correct in the rear.

Res. ANDRE. L’BOY WARRIORS RED SKINS”.

VHC. ANDREVON. “LEGENDTAFF STAND BY ME”.

LIMIT: (9, 1Abs)

1st. DAVIS. “BOLDSTOCK GEE TAR MAN AT SHARMARA”. A baby in age in this big boy class, but my did he perform. He oozes breed type for my liking. Keen expression, well boned wide, deep, fit an awesome outline. A balanced dog with correct rear angulation. Head strong and correct, eye dark ear neat, moved with drive, handled very well. Definitely in my mind when awarding the CC. Look out big boys this young boy is coming! RCC

2nd. JENKINS. “SLATADY ABOVE THE CLOUD”. This red dog turned my head as soon as he walked in the ring. black mask, A keen expression neat correctly placed ear darkest of eyes correct length of muzzle housing correct dentition clean and big. Straight front correct turn of foot and well padded too. Well for rib and short coupled, well bent stifle and strong rear quarters. He has true Stafford spirit.

3rd. SHIPP & HAMMONDS. “HAMMYSTAFF HANKY PANKY WITH IDYLLICSTAFF”. This red dog with black mask is a stunner. He has a head shape that has finished nicely with well placed ears and dark round eyes. His expression is keen and very pleasing. He has ample bone with width and depth. His dentition is big and correctly set with good width and depth to his underjaw he is clean in the flew. He has a correct lay of shoulder and is the correct length in body. He is well for rib. His rear is strong with a good bend of stifle and his tailset correct. He let himself down today on the move prancing not driving which cost him a higher placing.

Res. AXE. “HARLEY’S CHOICE”.

VHC. ANDREVON. “DIMANTSTAFF MY LITTLE SHEACHOU”.

OPEN: (15, 1Abs)

An awesome class this one where decisions were close and some amazing dogs were card-less, This only my opinion on the day and my decisions were nit picking from top class exhibits.

1st. MAYREN. “BELLAROUGE ADONIS AT FERGIESTAFFS JW”. Smart as new paint this boy! A Red and White dog with a gorgeous head shape, He is Balanced and he oozes breed type. He has a masculine strong skull with a deep stop and well pronounced cheek muscles, He has well placed small rose ears and the darkest round eye, giving that keen expression. He has a wide and deep underjaw housing a perfect set of big white clean teeth.

His neck is strong his front is straight and well angulated through the shoulder. He has a correct depth of brisket and a rib well sprung of the correct shape and size. He is well balanced. He has correct feet with strong pasterns and short nails. His rear quarters are strong and well muscled. He has a pump handle like tail with the correct tail set albeit carried a tad high on the move, This I expect with a dog on the tiptoe of expectation! Movement is parallel when viewed from front or rear straight in the topline not dipped nor arched. My dog CC and BIS

2nd. STANWAY. “AUS CH. MOSSTROOPER KENTUCKY MOON”. A white dog not dissimilar to my first for type. He is strong and all Stafford. His head shape correct although not as deep in the skull as first place ,he has a defined stop pronounced cheek muscles and correct dentition. His neck is strong and correctly arched his front straight and true with depth and width. His rib is plenty his body the correct length and he is made well in the rear. His movement was good with drive and parallel when viewed from the rear.

3rd. DESMOND. “CH. ELITEBULLS CHALLENGER JW”. A stunning Black Brindle dog, a worthy champion. A sculpted head with a keen expression, neat ear , dark eye and perfect clean big teeth. Made well in the front and rear, handled to perfection.
