Firstly, I would like to thank the SCSBTS for the invitation to judge at this year's open show. It was an honour and a privilege, I thoroughly enjoyed my day, myself and my partner were made to feel very welcome by all involved. A big thank you to my stewards Natalie Moorcroft and Kim Dowse for keeping proceedings running along smoothly on the day, an excellent job. I was very pleased with the entry I received and must commend the committee on their great efforts on promoting the show. And of course a massive big thank you to all the exhibitors for their entries and for giving me the opportunity to assess their dogs, every single entry was very much appreciated. I was happy with my final line ups and had a dog present from every class in both of them. Fitness on the day wasn't as good as i would have hoped for, which was a bit disappointing, a lot of dogs were lacking in muscle tone and conditioning. It's not just about the condition but this could be the deciding factor on the top awards. The Stafford should be muscular and well defined.

MR A & MRS J LAND
"ZIVANNAZ NO STOPPING ME NOW AT WINZACK"
Red and white with white blaze to chest and white toes. On her toes and ready for the challenge if it arises, another fiery character. Stunning bitch of quality with a beautiful head and expression, for me her head is spot on with a perfect skull to muzzle ratio. Neat well placed rose ears set correctly, medium size dark round eyes, correct depth and angle of stop with a clean tight lipped muzzle of
good length that balances out with her head perfectly, ample underjaw and correct dentition. Her front is clean and straight with adequate width. She excels in profile, so well balanced with super conformation and construction and front / rear angulation, everything just flows nicely together. To be critical i would have liked a shade more spring of rib, but i’m sure that will come as she matures on. Presented in excellent condition. Movement was sound and effortless, holding her topline with plenty of rear drive, moved at her best when challenging for B.O.B. She did her utmost here today to not win this class, by moving her feet forward then leaning back on her front which spoils her whole outline. Not sure if the baiting while stacked is a contributing factor. A very nice young lady liked her a lot, she has a bright future ahead I'm sure. BB & BIS.

"DELACOUR SWEETEST TABOO AT IDYLLICSTAFF"
Black and white pied, just out
of puppy, this ones a handful for
sure, she’s trouble and full of spirit, i like it. Another beautifully headed girl with a devious
expression and no exaggerations. Tidy neat well placed ears, piercing dark round eyes, skull
of good width, with visible cheek muscles and a good length of muzzle with clean tight lips,
open nares, ample underjaw and correct dentition. There is a tad more all round on this girl
than the class winner, but similar attributes apply here, she is
very well put together. Clean off the shoulder, straight front of good width and tidy well padded feet. At present she has the slightly better spring rib of the two, short coupled with an adequate taper at the loin. Looks a picture in profile compact and balanced with good angulations to her rear that has adequate muscle tone. Not in the condition of 1st but presented in good condition. Movement, well she moved well in spurts when she's not looking to fire off, I had one like this, but worse so know the feeling. A very nice girl, I do hope she develops along the same lines as she matures. On the day I preferred the more defined head and expression / movement and condition of 1st. Another with a bright future I believe. RBB & RBIS

MESSERS J.J DAY & MISS A THOMAS
"GOLDWYN FIRST EDITION TO JAYALIX"
Red with dark mask and white blaze on chest, animated and on his toes throughout, ready for action. Upstanding lad with a strong head that balances out well with his muzzle, well pronounced cheek muscles and a menacing expression. Muzzle length is good and reasonably clean with wide open nares and housing correct dentition. I’ve judged this boy before, around a year ago and awarded him BPD. He has come on leaps and bounds over the last year and is a well balanced dog
with nice all round body proportions. Well off for rib, level topline and well muscled rear quarters with a good turn of stifle and angulation. He does insist on over stretching his rear when stacked, when his rear is placed where it should be, he looks more balanced with a better outline and his topline stays true.. Moved freely with drive in fits and spurts, he is a bit of a handful on the move and in general but managed to see his movement despite this.Presented in very good order all round. Nice lad pleased to award him….Best Dog & Best Opposite Sex

MR S PAYNE
"LEEBEES PRINCESS CHARLOTTE"
Top size red with white blaze to her chest - As soon as I turned around and looked at the dogs present in this class she just stood out instantly. What a super headed puppy with a beautiful expression, clean as a whistle throughout, with a perfectly balanced skull and muzzle and correct depth of stop. Tight lipped, ample underjaw, and good dentition. Decent front, straight of adequate width but would benefit from shorter nails. Behind the collar she has a well balanced body with decent rib of good depth and length. To be critical she would benefit from a tad more turn of stifle.
Moved fairly well, keeps her head down which does spoil her outline on the move slightly. Liked her a lot and look forward to seeing her development once she’s in condition. BPB & BPIS

MRS K OGON
"PRIMISTAFF SMOOTH CRIMINAL"
Red with white fleck on chest, 8 months old, nicely proportioned head, muzzle of good length with correct dentition, would prefer a cleaner lip, dark eyes, good ear set with tidy rose ears. His front is ok for width with tidy feet, brisket to elbow with a decent underline and rear angulation. Difficult to assess stacked and on the move had to be coaxed up and down the mat, moved better in the challenge. BPD

MISS G ROWE & MR D SOUTH
"ILLORI AKINLANA JW ShCM VW"
Black Brindle boy with white a fleck on chest, on his toes and animated as per usual. Clean headed boy with correct ratio of head to muzzle ( now with shades of grey ) correct dentition and dark round eyes. He’s just a well put together dog and he’s clean as a whistle throughout. This is the fourth time now over the last 6 years I have had the privilege of judging this boy at a breed show. I have previously awarded him BIS, RBD, BVIS and today he went RBD & BVIS. He is a quality dog who is always presented in superb condition. The effort goes into this boy and he reaps the rewards and he will keep on reaping the rewards. He’s 8.5 years old now and there were only a few dogs here today that could match his conditioning. Moved well with drive kicking off up and down the mat as per usual. Had a few here today with similar character and spirit as this chap, from both sexes which livened up the proceedings somewhat, and was nice to see and I thoroughly enjoyed it…. RBD & BVIS. Well done he thoroughly deserved his awards here today.

MRS J ASHBURNER
"JODANZAC JOYFUL EVENT"
Top size brindle with white blaze on chest, coming up to ten years old. Lovely head shape on this old lady which is super clean throughout, strong broad skull but feminine and still possessing very prominent cheek muscles, adequate length of muzzle and ample underjaw. Clean fronted with decent feet and short nails. She is well off for rib with good depth and length and has a visible rise to her underline at the loin. Moved ok, was enjoying her day out and moved happily up and down the mat. Presented In good all round condition for her 10 years.
rear angulation. Viewed from above he has a decent amount of rib and tapers nicely in at the loin. Moved well with efficient drive from the rear. Overall a very nice dog, put down in fairly good condition but needs to be harder to the touch with a shade more muscle tone/definition to complete the picture for me.
winner.
Moved ok with drive on his well muscled rear quarters. Presented in a good all round condition. Preferred the cleaner muzzle and overall balance in profile of the class winner. This boy was the better conditioned of the two.
2nd. Boggins & Burton "LUTHAIS LOCH TAY JW".
Black brindle, standard boy with a strong well proportioned head, neat well placed ears, dark round eye. Slightly shorter in the muzzle than first placed housing correct dentition. His front is true and wide with ample bone, compact in body which is well off for rib, visible waistline with well muscled / angulated rear quarters which powered him up and down the mat. A very well balanced dog all round. His movement is free and economical, a sound mover who holds his outline well.. A smaller, more compact dog compared to the class winner who was presented in good all round condition. Preferred the animation and athleticism of 1st on the day but had me deliberating. The more polished mover of the two and on show here today.
Black brindle, with an appealing expression. As you would expect a very immature young lady all round at 6 months of age. Her head and muzzle are clean and defined displaying correct proportions. Neat ears, dark eyes and correct dentition. Body wise she is compact and very well balanced with a straight front of adequate width. I was surprised how confident she was when stepping on the mat. She strolled up and down without a care in the world, moving well. Will be interesting to see how she develops.
